Wash & care
A good bath mat is easy to keep. Here is the short routine that keeps ours soft, grippy and true to color.
The wash
Machine wash cold or warm on a gentle cycle with a mild detergent. Skip bleach and skip fabric softener — softener coats the fibres and dulls both the absorbency and the waffle texture you bought it for. Wash the mat with towels or other soft items rather than zippers and hooks that can pull the pile.
The dry
Tumble dry on low and pull the mat while it still holds a trace of warmth. Low heat protects the TPR backing; high heat is the one thing that ages it, so keep it gentle and the grip lasts for years. The waffle springs back on its own as it dries.
Keeping the grip
The dotted backing works best on a clean, dry floor. Every few weeks, wipe the tile underneath and let the mat air out fully — a backing laid on a permanently damp floor will hold less. If it ever feels less grippy, a cold wash and a low tumble usually restores it.
First-week tips
New mats shed a little loose fibre on the first wash; that is normal and stops quickly. Wash before first use if you like, and keep the tags on until you are sure of the size and shade so a return stays simple if it is not the one.
Storing spares
Store extra mats rolled rather than folded, somewhere dry. Rolling keeps the backing from creasing, and a dry shelf keeps cotton-blend pile from picking up a shelf smell.
Give your feet the soft landing.
